Soul Sickness; Consumption of Spirit

Today in my conversation with Spirit they asked, “what does it really mean to be sick”? This was thought provoking. I have found as individuals many of us prioritize our physical wellbeing and health. We may exercise, choose healthy eating habits, and take vitamins all to help maintain our health and prolong our physical being. We also adjust seasonally. Personally, this time of the year, moving from fall to winter, I find myself taking more zinc and vitamin C in the hope of staving off sickness.  Sometimes it seems like no matter what we do to protect our physical health we face alignments of varying degrees.  When we face these physical illnesses we may seek medical care, support with medications, or just get extra rest.

What I found interesting as I crawled into this rabbit hole of thought is that many times, even when we feel physically well, we don’t really feel well at all. Why?

Spirit has a good point, what does it mean to be sick and is it only our physical body that can be affected?

The definition of a sick person is simply a person suffering from an illness. The definition of a sick person is very vague and ultimately lead me further down this contemplative path until I found what Spirit sent me to find, soul sickness.

What is soul sickness? If you search soul sickness online, undoubtedly you will find “Soul sickness, or demoralization, is characterized by feelings of hopelessness and helplessness and a perceived sense of incompetence. This condition typically involves vague, unexplained physical symptoms. Soul sickness can be efficiently diagnosed by asking patients a series of questions about their personal lives. and how does that translate to our spiritual health.” (Article: Soul sickness: a frequently missed diagnosis Charles R Perakis)

What do we do to support our soul’s health? Do we rest when we feel overwhelmed, honor ourselves, ground, meditate, process through trauma, or seek professional guidance from ministers or spiritual leaders?

The point I think Spirit is trying to make is that physical health and spiritual health need to be equally important in your life and daily assessments. If we do not treat the whole body, both the physical and Spiritual aspects to our very makeup we will always feel a void or incompleteness that will prevent us from feeling whole. Taking time to rejuvenate and honor our soul, our life force is equally as valuable as what you do for your physical health. These processes for both our physical and spiritual wellbeing are ever changing and never ending.

Now, is the time to assess if you truly are doing everything for the health of your whole being.
