Understanding the Past

Many of us move throughout life, at least in our early years not understanding how they will catch up to us, mold us, or even relate to who will we become. So much of what we do can seem unimportant.

I feel it. You have felt it. I was in that place, reflecting of who I was and who I thought I would be when Spirit showed me the metal box and told me to dig it out. I keep this box it in my closet, tucked discreetly away on a shelf. Over the years I have filled it with thoughts, poems, and dreams.

I thought I knew what I was looking for as I blew the dust off the lid. Reading through all the thoughts long forgotten but still held in my soul I realized I didn’t know what I was looking for. Spirit, taking me way to the bottom gave inspiration I didn’t know I ever had.

When I found this, I knew it was what they wanted me to share.

Listen and you will hear,

Cry and you will feel,

Pray and He will answer,

Love and you will be loved,

Hate and they will hate,

Pray and they will pray.

 

Don’t set emotional boundaries up around you. Don’t stop your imagination. Don’t lock out the light, let its rays shine in and bring with it each new day a dream. A dream that may inspire, a dream that may fade.

 

But whatever your child does, don’t take their dream away. Simply lead them, guide them, and help them find their way.

When I read this, my mind was blown by the words of the passage. How at 15 years old could I have seen the power in these words that were inspired with in my mind but seemed to come as if I was automatically writing for future me? It was a time I sought answers, a reason to stay, a place to belong, and a place I felt seen. I realize now Spirit was there and this is what they gave me, as they lead me to where I am now.

The phrase “whatever your child does, don’t take their dream away” burns into me as I realize now that I am Spirit’s child and every battle I faced, every doubt I had, and each stumble I had they didn’t take away my hope, my dream, the dreamer in me. I was being built to inspire just like they build you, uniquely for your path. Be the open vessel Spirit needs you to be, they are waiting for you.
