I found myself in a conundrum and mental turmoil as I pondered the importance of material things, stuff, eventually goals in my life, in my children’s life, in all our lives.
What put me in this state? The simple act of trying to meet my child’s birthday gift expectation, which as a parent is something I always strive to do. It used to be easier. I remember the days that toy, snugglies, and movies easily filled the expectation and brought celebratory excitement. Now it is different.
I’ve asked for weeks what my child wanted for their birthday as they bring in their teen years. Finally, there was a decision, a pair of ridiculous, but all the rage, vintage style 80’s sunglasses that come with an extravagant price tag.
I struggled to rationalize the cost because to me they did not hold the value, but I knew to my child they are invaluable. Eventually, I ordered the glasses and have them wrapped, waiting for the special day. The right time.
It was during the process of coming to the point of ensuring my child received what they felt they “needed” that I wondered if Spirit and my guides feel the same way?
Here on this physical plain, we often put focus and importance on an achievement or other things, sometime material items and we work ferociously to get what we want. How many times has Spirit sat looking at us thinking this isn’t worth it, why are they SPENDING so much energy on it? How many times has Spirit helped us reach that goal or given us what we were wanting even though they saw no importance in it other then our need to have it? No real significance to our journey but knew we would obsess over it.
It made me think why do we allow ourselves to struggle for things that really do not serve us, whether material or ideological?
Next time you are conversing with Spirit, struggling for your own pair of “vintage glasses” stop and ask yourself, Is “it” worth it or is Spirit giving you grace like we do for children?
